How to select the Motor Direction for the actuators
When configuring a drive, you need to set the Motor Direction. You have two options:
1- Normal Direction:
• Positive Direction = Motor turns Clockwise
• Sensor 1A = Home sensor
• Sensor 1B = End sensor
2- Reverse Direction:
• Positive Direction = Motor turns Counter-Clockwise
• Sensor 1A = End sensor
• Sensor 1B = Home sensor
Note that when moving in the positive direction, you are supposed to move away from the home sensor and towards the end sensor.
Once you have configured your motor direction, you can verify if it can follow these steps:
1- Identify your home and end positions on the actuator.
2- Manually place your actuator in the middle of its axis.
3- Jog of a small positive increment your axis (In Manual Control). This will move your actuator in the positive direction.
4- If your system moves away from the desired home position, then your configuration is correct.
5- If not, you need to reverse the direction of the motor in the configuration window. Then repeat step 3.
6- Connect your home and end sensors to the correct port according to the configuration above.
You can see in the images below the difference between the Normal and Reverse directions.
